About
Painter of portraits, nature lover, doggie tragic ...
For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for drawing. As I grew up, my admiration for art deepened and I was always in awe of the old masters works that were housed in the State Library in Swanston Street, Melbourne in the early 1960s. As a 14 year old, I would wander around on my own during school lunch breaks, captivated by the paintings and wonder about the artists who made them, and how the creation of such paintings could even be possible.
I started taking art classes in my late teens and have cultivated a lifelong enthusiasm for participating in workshops and classes, where I have explored various methods of artistic expression and techniques, including watercolour, acrylics, oils, sculpture, pottery, lead lighting, ink painting, collage, printmaking, screen printing and much more.
My pet portrait journey began around 25 years ago when I decided to pursue portrait commissions through art and craft markets around Victoria. This led to making greeting cards of the portraits to give to my clients and also selling the cards on my stall (if they were agreeable, which they always were!). A pastime I still enjoy to this day; making cards and envelopes may be my favourite meditation.
